چکیده

Aim: To compare the mean ejection fraction and cardiac enzymes level in patients with Ischemic heart disease undergoing elective coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABG) having antegrade blood cardioplegia versus plus retrograde Cardioplegia. Study design: Randomized Controlled Trial Place duration: This study was performed from 7th February, 2020 to August, at Cardiac Surgery Department, PIC, Jail Road, Lahore. Methodology: After receiving informed consent, all CABG were enrolled this study. In order enzyme levels between who had those cardioplegia, preoperative, intraoperative, postoperative characteristics recorded into predesigned proforma. Results: The total number of 72 divided two groups. There 36(50%) have given Cardioplegia through route while According Table 1, age Group A 51.86±9.35 years, whereas ages participants B 52.92±7.70 years. 26(72%) male 10(28%) females 30(83%) 6(17%) B. BMI 25.65±5.18 25.02±3.97 35(97%) hypertensive 1(3%) non respectively. Similarly, there 33(92%) diabetic 3(8%) 28 (78%) 8(22%) smokers non- 24 (67%) 12(33%) non-smokers Practical Implication: comparison CKMB(IU/L) Antegrade group baseline after 48 hours shows insignificant p-values 0.17 0.12 respectively which that is no significant difference CKMB regarding these routes chosen for giving grafting. Conclusion: Although both required additional surgical manoeuvres, however, approaches equally effective safe. Prior research demonstrated multiple infusions offer superior protection either or alone. Keywords: Coronary Bypass grafting surgery, route, Retrograde Route, route.

Antegrade versus Antegrade* / Retrograde Cardioplegia for Myocardial Protection in Patients Undergoing Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting

Objective: Nonhomogeneous distribution of cardioplegia antegradely in severe coronary artery stenosis and evolving acute myocardial infarction has been demonstrated experimentally. Administration of cardioplegia retrogradely causes homogeneous distribution and offers a good alternative for myocardial protection. Methods: Thirty five consecutive patients with three vessel-disease undergoing elec...

Does combined antegrade-retrograde cardioplegia have any superiority over antegrade cardioplegia?

BACKGROUND In a prospective randomised clinical study we assessed and compared antegrade vs. combined antegrade-retrograde cardioplegia in patients who underwent elective coronary artery by pass grafting. METHODS Between March 2006 and January 2007, 87 consecutive patients were randomly divided into two groups. Group A (n=45) received antegrade cold (4 degrees C) blood cardioplegia. Besides a...

Administration of aminophylline as a myocardial protective in CABG operation

Introduction: Myocardial protection is one of the most important determinants of the result of CABG operation. The benefit of aminophylline has been proved in addition to antegrade cardioplegia but has not been studied plus Antegrade and retrograde cardioplegia. This study was designed to evaluate the effects of aminophyliine as a cardioprotective agent for patients undergoing on-pump CAB...

Does cardioplegia type affect outcome and survival in patients with advanced left ventricular dysfunction? Results from the CABG Patch Trial.

BACKGROUND There is controversy regarding which cardioplegic solution, temperature, and route of administration provides superior protection. The CABG Patch Trial enrolled a high-risk group of coronary artery disease patients with an ejection fraction of <36%. Thus, they constitute an ideal group to benefit most from optimal cardioplegic protection. METHODS AND RESULTS All patients randomized...
